Edgar Quinonez LVAC Shooting Las Vegas, Death and Obituary

The Las Vegas community is in mourning following a deadly shooting that took place Friday afternoon inside a Las Vegas Athletic Club (LVAC) on the west side of the city. Among the victims was Edgar Quinonez, a longtime and beloved LVAC staff member, who tragically lost his life during the violent incident.

Authorities say gunfire erupted inside the gym, leaving two people dead — including Quinonez and the suspected shooter — and at least three others injured, one critically. Police confirmed that the suspect was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Undersheriff Andrew Walsh addressed the public, stating that there is no longer a threat to the community, and a heavy police presence was observed along North Rainbow Boulevard shortly after the incident.

Eyewitness Claudio Vigani, who was inside the gym at the time, recalled the chaos. “They said ‘Get out, get out, get out,’” Vigani told CBS affiliate KLAS-TV. “Then I saw the dead guy next to the machine.”
Another gym-goer, Gary Steward, described a narrow escape after deciding to stop at a nearby nutrition store instead of heading directly to the gym. “It’s strange. Who shoots up a gym?” he said.

LVAC confirmed the loss of their team member, posting a heartfelt tribute on social media:

“Yesterday the LVAC family lost a dear friend and teammate, Edgar Quinonez. Edgar was part of the LVAC family for 15 years. In that time he became so much more than a colleague. He was a source of kindness, dedication, and positivity. His presence touched the lives of so many members and teammates, and his impact will never be forgotten. We are praying for Edgar’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.”

Quinonez was also working as a Busser/Runner at Ark Restaurants in Las Vegas. He was widely known for his warm personality, infectious humor, and strong relationship with his mother.

Former coworker Andrea Exum expressed her heartbreak on Facebook, writing:

“This is so devastating to hear. I worked with Edgar at W. Flamingo LVAC location back in 2014. He was so kind and funny! Always tried making people laugh. I know him and his mom were very close and he always spoke highly of her. I can’t imagine what she is experiencing right now. LVAC I hope you consider honoring this young man who dedicated himself to your company. Provide financial support to his family so they don’t have to worry about laying their loved one to rest. Sending love and healing to all involved. You’ll be missed, Edgar.”

As the investigation continues, tributes continue to pour in for Quinonez from both colleagues and gym members who remember him for his dedication and uplifting spirit.
